Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Jizzakh Cement Plant will complete realization of a project on expansion of production capacities till 1 million tonnes a year on the eve of celebrations of the 25th anniversary of independence of Uzbekistan (1 September). Pravda Vostoka newspaper said that the project with the cost of US$35.8 million executed for 62%. Over half of equipment were delivered to the company. Two mills are installed and other equipment installation works are underway. This will allow to increase capacity of production and produce additional 260,000 tonnes of cement a year. The quality of the products will be improved as well. It is planned to export 97% of produced white cement and 14% of Portland cement. Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine (AGMK) launched a plant on production of Portland cement and white cement in Zafarabad district of Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan in the end of March 2014. The capacity of the plant makes up 350,000 tonnes of white cement and 760,000 tonnes of Portland cement a year. About 70% of products will be exported. The project with the cost of US$114.2 million was financed due to loans of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for US$74.2 million and own resources of AGMK – US$40 million. In 2015, the enterprise produced 510,385 tonnes of cement. It exported 5,500 tonnes of white and 10,000 tonnes of Portland cement. The company plans to increase production up to 650,000 tonnes of products.
